  • Year 6: act of remembrance

    Wed 11 Nov 2020 Mrs T Phillips

Pupils in year 6 made us feel very proud today by joining in with the virtual remembrance service at the hospital by way of readings and a song. Some children were even brave enough to perform a solo! The service was watched by patients and staff from across the hospital site.

You can watch them by visiting the UHNM facebook page, or by copying and pasting the links below:

  • Remembrance day

    Mon 11 Nov 2019

Armistice Day is on 11 November and is also known as Remembrance Day.

It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.

A two-minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars.

We remembered those during a school visit to the Hospital where we took part in a Remembrance event.

During the Remembrance Sunday parade in Burslem, Logan, a Year 2 was a flag bearer.

  • Anti-Bullying Week 2019

    Mon 11 Nov 2019

This week is ‘Anti-Bullying Week’, which is acknowledged at this time every year as a key focus across the country. Anti-Bullying Week shines a spotlight on bullying and encourages children to take action against bullying throughout the year.

The theme for this year's Anti-Bullying Week is 'Change Starts With Us'.

    Small change. Big difference.

Whether it is verbal, physical, online or in-person, bullying has a significant impact on a child’s life well in to adulthood. By making small, simple changes, we can break this cycle and create a safe environment for everyone. Because together, we can challenge bullying. Change starts with a conversation. It starts with checking in. It starts with work together.

    Change starts here.
    Change starts now.
    Change starts with us.

This year the goal is to inform schools and settings, children and young people, parents and carers to know that it takes a collective responsibility to stop bullying.

There are a number of activities that will be taking place throughout the week for the children to get involved with including 'odd socks' Friday.
