Our school motto is “Working Together to Achieve our Best”. We work in partnership with the whole school community to ensure that all children are able to fulfil their true potential through a creative, broad and balanced curriculum.  

Our children are encouraged to be well mannered, to be kind and to make good choices. These skills together with encouraging independence, showing respect and becoming resilient will build confidence for lifelong learning.

The wellbeing of the whole community is a very strong focus of the school, and this was recognised with the reward of the Wellbeing Award for Schools. Activities such as Mindfulness, Yoga and regular ‘feeling check ins’ are a regular part of school-life.

We are extremely proud of our friendly, inclusive and nurturing school. We have embedded a positive and respectful school culture in which staff know and care about pupils. This has been recognised by OFSTED in their most recent visit in November 2019 “Pupils love Burnwood Community School. They brim with pride when they talk about their school. Pupils value how much staff want them to succeed. Leaders, staff and governors are ambitious for all pupils.”

Societas Trust

Since January 2024 we have been an Associate Member of The Societas Trust. The Trust is a successful partnership between ten schools in North Staffordshire. We share a belief that the needs of children are best met when schools collaborate and cooperate and are able to maintain close links with the communities they serve.

Whilst it is crucial for us to support the development of the unique identity of each school in the partnership, we also believe that by developing and promoting innovative and creative approaches to learning and teaching across the trust, we will ensure that our children have the very best opportunities to excel academically and develop socially. We believe that children learn best and thrive in environments that promote and foster self-belief, the love of learning and high expectations of themselves and others
